From humble beginnings in a small cottage in Frampton Cotterell back in 2004, Little Acorns and Stepping Stones has grown into one of the leading nursery groups in Bristol and South Gloucestershire. With 8 fabulous nurseries spread across the area, we’ve built an outstanding reputation over the last 15 years.
Our ethos has always been to treat every child as we would want our own to be treated; with love, respect and care.
This is reflected in everything we do, from the wonderful staff we employ to the beautiful learning environments we create. Each of our nurseries is well-resourced, features an exciting outdoor area and is kept to a high standard of cleanliness and décor.
Our team members are highly-qualified and passionate about offering your child the very best start to their learning journey. At Little Acorns & Stepping Stones your child will always be seen as an individual and will be treated as such, giving them a nurturing environment where they can flourish.
The curriculum we follow is educational, fun and incorporates the learning goals of the Early Years Foundation Stage. We’re registered with Ofsted, who inspect our nurseries and publish reports on our overall performance, helping us to maintain our high standards.
We feel it’s important that parents are a part of the process every step of the way, so we’ll always keep you involved from the moment you first walk through our doors. You won’t be asked to make an appointment to come into our nurseries; you’re welcome to visit at any time, and we hope you will!
Thank you for taking the time to take a look at our website - we hope you’ll choose one of our lovely nurseries for your childcare needs.
Here at Little Acorns and Stepping Stones, our aims and objectives are to provide, a caring, safe and stimulating atmosphere for your child. All our staff have a clear understanding of these and work hard to ensure this every day. They achieve this by providing your child with a challenging and stimulating environment, having a strong two-way communication with parents/carers, maintaining consistency and structure and by offering your child well planned activities to suit their individual needs.
We want to develop your child's self esteem and promote good self image, compassion and respect for others; we hope that your child will enjoy their time here at Little Acorns and Stepping Stones and help give them the best start to their life.
We place a lot of emphasis on self-evaluation, training and re-investment. Feed back from parents/carers is always sought and valued and acted on.
We believe that partnerships with parents is of the utmost importance as, after all, who knows your children better!
Whilst at nursery, your child will be allocated a Keyworker and a buddy through our Key person and buddy system. If for any reason your child's Keyworker is not in, then the buddy will take over the care and well being of your child.
Your child's key person will be responsible for the day to day care of your child ensuring routines are regularly reviewed and updated and for keeping records of your child's achievements and ongoing development.
They will provide you with progress reports on a regular basis, and of course meet with you to discuss your child at a time to suit you.
If your child is under three, they will be provided with a daily diary. This will include all information about your child's day and any comments from their key person. These book are sent with you at the end of your child's session and have a large space for you to write any information or comments you feel may be useful.
If your child is over 3 years of age, verbal feedback will be given about their day at the end of each session.
Little Acorns and Stepping Stones nurseries recognise the importance of creativity, individuality, responsibility and a sense of community. We welcome and value all children and their families and aim to provide children with the environment and atmosphere that will suit their needs. We feel that all children should have the opportunity to learn through play, laughter and fun and we are passionate about the role we play.
Please see documents below relating to SEND.
We would advise parents to book in with the nursery to discuss children's individual needs.

Returning to work after spending sometimes many months or maybe years devoted to your baby or toddler can be a difficult and emotional time. You may feel not only sadness but a little jealousy towards the new carer, as they may witness some of your child's first moments and develop a strong bond. But this must be seen as a positive thing as this shows that your child has developed a sense of trust and belonging and feels comfortable within their new environment.
Preparing your child for this transition can make the process of starting nursery easier for you and them:
If your child is old enough, talk about their new nursery and use the staff names that will be caring regularly before they start.
